Josie

Josie – Registered Clinical Counsellor

Are you feeling “stuck” or “trapped” in a cycle that you are unsure how to get out of? Josie understands that life comes with complex challenges that can bring up painful emotions that can be difficult to navigate. Over the past eight years, Josie has worked with children, youth, and adults to work through these challenges. Josie holds a Bachelors of Education and previously worked as a teacher for the Central Okanagan School District and as an Inclusive Education Teacher for Kleos Open Learning. Josie completed her Master’s in Counselling Psychology with a special focus in helping young adults adapt to the challenges and stressors of adulthood and discover their sense of self. Josie’s previous experience has taught her the importance of creating a supportive and caring relationship with individuals in order to help them thrive. Josie has a love for creativity, movement, and expression and she integrates this passion into her counselling sessions through art therapy techniques. A session with Josie might not look like just “sitting and talking.” You may go for a walk, create an art project, or listen to music together in order to explore and express your feelings. Josie aims to help you replace your own negative narratives with one filled with more self-love and understanding.

Josie’s professional approach centres around creating trust and personal agency in the counselling relationship. She understands the importance of “meeting clients” wherever they are in their journey without judgement. Josie’s aim is to help you revisit your story and work towards writing the next chapter with new discoveries. Josie works with individuals and families in person in Kelowna and virtually for those across BC. When she is not counselling you can find Josie drawing, reading fiction, or spending time outside.
