Emily – Clinical Counsellor – Registered Social Worker
Emily’s uses a person-centred, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach to her counselling practice. Taking a holistic view of wellness, she explores emotional, psychological, social, spiritual, and systemic influences with clients. She supports individuals in considering how relational patterns, roles, and intergenerational dynamics may be shaping their current struggles. Together, she works with clients to understand how their environment and history intersect with their personal goals and values.
Emily integrates evidence-based modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), to meet each person’s unique needs. She also helps clients build skills around communication, boundary setting, and clarifying personal values and goals. Emily welcomes clients who are exploring identity, sexuality, intimacy, friendship, and relationships of all types. She is trained in Gottman Couples Therapy (levels 1 & 2) and is experienced in working with neurodivergent clients.
Emily helps clients gain a deeper understanding of their concerns, find greater balance in their lives, and build the skills to trust themselves and nurture healthier relationships.
Having benefited from therapy herself, Emily understands the positive impact of working with a counsellor who meets you where you are at and holds your best interests in mind. This perspective informs her commitment to providing a space that is supportive, nonjudgmental, and grounded in genuine care. She tailors her therapeutic approach to fit each client and what works for them.
Emily holds a Master of Social Work from UBC Okanagan and an undergraduate degree in psychology, alongside a professional background in the non-profit sector. These experiences shape her relational, inclusive, and socially conscious practice. She offers both in-person and online counselling and is committed to creating a welcoming and affirming space for clients from all walks of life.
