Jade Merkley – Registered Clinical Counsellor

Find Clarity in the Chaos.

Sometimes, you can look like you’re holding everything together while feeling anything but okay underneath. Whether you’re navigating grief, anxiety, a major life transition, relationship challenges, or the pressure to keep performing, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

I offer compassionate, collaborative counselling that creates space for both support and meaningful change. My approach is person-centred and strength-based, drawing from cognitive-behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment, narrative, emotion-focused, and parts-based approaches. I also incorporate EMDR-informed strategies, when appropriate for your goals and needs.

Grief and loss are a particular area of focus in my practice. Loss can change much more than we expect. It can affect your relationships, identity, sense of safety, and the way you see the future. I work alongside clients as they process difficult emotions, make sense of their experiences, and find ways to move forward while maintaining meaningful connections to what and who matters most.

I also work with athletes and high performers navigating confidence, performance pressure, burnout, transitions, and the mental side of competition. As a competitive athlete and coach myself, I understand the unique pressures that can come with competition, expectations, setbacks, and trying to perform at your best while managing everything else life brings. I bring that lived experience into my work with athletes, helping them build confidence, strengthen focus, manage pressure, and develop a healthier relationship with performance.

My goal is not simply to help you cope, but to help you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and create meaningful change. I believe therapy can be a space where you feel supported while also being gently challenged to grow.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You just need to be willing to take the first step.

Grief Connection Program

Alongside individual counselling, I also facilitate the Grief Connection Program, a supportive group-based program designed to help teens and adults navigate the experience of grief and loss. This program has one group for teens and one group for adults. It provides a safe and welcoming space to connect with others who understand, explore the many ways grief can impact our lives, and develop healthy tools for coping and moving forward.

The Grief Connection Program is grounded in the understanding that grief is unique to each person and that healing does not mean forgetting or moving on. Through connection, education, reflection, and meaningful activities, participants are supported in making space for their grief while also finding ways to reconnect with themselves, their relationships, and what matters most to them.

With a warm and empathetic style, I offer steady support while also encouraging insight and healthy challenges to foster growth. I recognize that healing, performance, and personal development are not linear journeys, and honour the uniqueness of each individual’s path.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation to chat and answer any questions. Please feel free to reach out and connect!
