Maddy Laranjo – Clinical Counsellor – Registered Social Worker

Maddy offers a warm, empathic, and supportive space where clients feel understood and empowered to make meaningful change. She takes a holistic, person-centred, trauma-informed approach, helping clients explore how their lived experiences and relationships shape their inner world and the ways they walk through life.

As a relational therapist, Maddy integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with elements of somatic experiencing and polyvagal-informed practices. Maddy works collaboratively with clients and tailors her approach to their unique needs, recognizing that healing is never one-size-fits-all and that each person is the expert of their own story.

Maddy holds a Master’s in Clinical Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Health and Exercise Sciences from UBC Okanagan, where she also played on the women’s varsity soccer team. Her background as a former athlete, certified kinesiologist, and movement instructor deeply informs her therapeutic lens and mind–body approach. She integrates both talk therapy and body-based practices to support healing, nervous system regulation, and emotional resilience.

While Maddy works with clients from many backgrounds, she has a particular passion and extensive experience in body image work and disordered eating, and understands how these experiences often intertwine with trauma, depression, OCD, sport, and the influence of larger systems such as diet culture. With both personal and professional insight, she uses a non-diet, body-neutral lens to support clients as they heal their relationship with food, movement, and their bodies, and navigate the emotional challenges that often arise in recovery.

Outside the counselling office, Maddy teaches Spin at PACE, coaches SOBC sports, and enjoys trail running and other forms of community-based movement. Her love for movement, connection, and well-being is at the heart of her everyday life.

Maddy offers both in person and virtual online therapy sessions.
